IDCCIT attends Tully Community Expo

Posted by

On Saturday the 20th May, we attended the Tully Community Expo at the Show Grounds in Tully. This event was organised by the Tully Chamber of Commerce, and it was a great day with a variety of exhibitors, along with a car show, pony rides, gymnastics and MC’d by Glen from the 4KZ Breaky Show.

Whilst number were down on last year, it was still a very successful day and the IDCCIT wishes to thank all those who attended and supported this worthwhile event. Thanks to Glen from 4KZ and to Fiona from the Tully Chamber for all their efforts.

Check out some of our pictures from the day.

It has been a busy time for the Chamber over the last month, and I will apologise for the lack of an update for April. We have been undergoing some internal changes to further improve the experience for our members. We are proud of our new webpage, thanks to Greg Provians from Rusty Mango Design, and we now encourage all our members to send through their business information, photos, good news stories and the like, to be included on the page. It is your page and for your benefit, so let’s utilise it to ensure its potential.

Our may General Dinner Meeting will be an electric (or should I say Solar) experience, so we encourage all members, guests, and the general public to attend. Sunstruck Solar NQ in conjunction with Zenus Appollo will be providing a very informative and cost effective presentation on Solar Energy Installations, including design, installations, maintenance and financial packages that are designed to reduce your power costs to your business. This evening will be at Brothers Leagues Club Innisfail, on the 16th May at 6.00pm for a 6.30 start.  Costs will be reduced to $25 for members and $30 for non-members with a meal and desert provided. RSVP to:- by Monday the 15th May at the latest.

I am pleased to announce that the Chamber now has a new office/meeting facility to call home, located within the CANEGROWERS Innisfail building, in Rankin Street Innisfail. The entrance to the IDCCIT facility is off Grace Street, utilising the same doorway as APM Employment. We will be announcing an official opening day soon, along with some other new additions, so stay tuned.

A Shopping Enhancement Raffle is in the planning stages which will operate in the second half of this year. This promises to be exciting event for the business and general community of Innisfail leading up to Christmas, with the major prize of a New Car along with Cash Shopping Vouchers to spend in participating businesses.  The winners will be announced at the Christmas evening in town, that is also in the planning stages.  We can’t wait to get this get this “kicked Off”.

A new MOU (memorandum of understanding) has been agreed to and signed off with the Cassowary Coast Regional Council. The Chamber and the CCRC are bound to work together for the benefit of our business and general community. Both parties see this as a vital tool in growing the potential of our region. In addition, a recent meeting with Ports North has revealed positive plans for our Mourilyan port facility for the future, and Ports North are committed to involving the community in the potentials that exist for this unique port complex. They have also committed to working closely with the CCRC to ensure that their future plans are aligned with the vision of the CCRC.

Until next time, stay safe and enjoy the unique part of the world.

Cheers for now,

Ron Donges – President
